Hi all I’ve been making cakes for friends and family, I normally make my decorations a few days before using ready roll fondant, either supermarket bought or have tried renshaws too and even done a mixture of them both, I leave them in the open to dry in my kitchen.
I’ve found when moving the decorations On to the cakes they often fall apart, sometimes they have been cracked before putting them on, is is because Of the fondant I’m using or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance
I’ve uploaded a photo or two of examples of this
It looks like maybe your fondant is just a bit too dry…are you adding anything like Tylose (hardening agent) to it? Maybe you could try your hand at making your own Marshmellow Fondant from scratch…there’s lots of great recipes right here on CD, just search for it under recipes. Hope this helps!

Have you tried using gumpaste? Or try adding CMC powder to help it set harder, it’s a real life saver!
Thanks very much for your replies, I shall be visiting my local cake suppliers Monday and do some experimenting! I currently don’t add anything to it x
