Introducing Powerful Search and New Menu

CakesDecor is growing leaps and bounds. It’s not a trivial task to navigate 350,000 cakes anymore. What’s more, we keep adding great new features like CakesDecor Q&As, Cake Collections and CD Academy on a constant basis.

I decided to tackle both issues with the new contextual CD search toolbar and new menu design. You will still use our compact CD header to navigate and search but searching is much more dominant and powerful now. To access the new CD menu you have to click on the menu icon next to CD logo. Once clicked, beautiful menu with organized site sections will be revealed:

As mentioned above, search is now contextual. You search cakes when you browse cakes, you search questions when you browse Q&As etc. No more context switching. Here’s an example of the superhero cake search:

And remember – members, questions, topics and tutorials use the new powerful search engine too:

While you familiarize yourself with the new menu layout it might be a good idea to unleash our new search on cakes. CD search engine is much more sophisticated now so you will sure uncover lots of hidden gems for your new cake collections. Also, it might be worth trying to search through questions and topics as the new language processing of our search engine might prove useful.

Search is now the core feature of CakesDecor. It will keep evolving and getting better with time with features like new filters, related searches, colors and more.
