A baptism cake for Mateo. For the son of my daughter’s good friend. Had a couple of hiccups with both cakes. Long, long…really long story!! Was up at 5.30 am this morning and rebaked bottom 8" tier, ganached, and covered with fondant. Ripped fondant off top 6" tier, and recovered. Fortunately, all the other elements, cake board, bowtie, cross and plaque were done days ago. Request was for a fun looking baptism cake, and not a lot of baby blue. So I marblized top 6" tier and did a blue grey for the bottom 8" tier. Top tier was lemon poppyseed filled with lemon curd and blueberry jam. Bottom tier is my most requested family chocolate cake. Filled with mocha smbc and crushed chocolate chips.
Whew..job well done. Glad I redid. Pleased how cake turned out.
Oh..and and hubby is working on our main oven, so had to bake in my Cuisinart toaster/countertop oven…fun times!!

Such a pretty design and I really like the marbled fondant replacing lots of baby blue. The cake board takes it up a notch, too!
