Cake International - Gold
The fact that I got one piece entered was impressive. I had (once again) left things very late for entering. But I was able to finish it the night before in the hotel in Birmingham and managed to get it in on time. I was fairly happy with my piece but I always have a bad habit of pointing out all of the mistakes to people when they’re congratulating me. So, I’m not going to do that now!
This is made from Vera Miklas modelling chocolate on a wire and wood frame with a dummy base. Strings are made from extra long spaghetti that I picked up ages ago – thinking that it would come in handy some day. The base is covered in fondant and airbrushed. And the details are all made with dark modelling chocolate. Gold was dusted with antique gold Sugarflair.
