This was my (Emily’s) contribution to Acts of Green-UNSA 2016 collaboration – Save the Bees – Save the World!

It is a fact that many species of wild bees, butterflies and other insects that pollinate plants are heading for extinction, and our food supplies could be about to suffer, that is what the UN warns.

The 20,000 or so species of pollinators are key to hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of crops each year, from fruits and vegetables to coffee and chocolate.
Yet two out of five species of insect pollinators are under threat from a mix of farming, pesticides and a loss of habitat.

What I have tried to do is to put across this sad state of affairs and make people aware that nature and man are closely linked, and whilst the former can survive without the latter, this does not work the other way around. Save the Bees – Save the World!Hello everyone!

The issues facing our planet are vast and overwhelming but by supporting the National Geographic Society, this years chosen nonprofit, we are giving to an organization that has made a tangible effort to help reverse the damage that has been done and educate future generations.
