My name is Sue Bertuch from Cairns, Queensland Australia, where I live with my husband and six of our
9 combined and foster children. I am a qualified Special Education Teacher who has turned her love
of all things to do with SugarArt from a hobby to a small business.

My second son was diagnosed with ADHD at age 6, but both the doctors and I thought he had something
else and I asked for a second opinion. We saw one of Victoria’s top specialists in Autism at the time and Jeremy was diagnosed with Asperger and Hyper activity. He is now a wonderful 32 year old, fully qualified Chef who still works in the industry but as a cold stores Manager and supervisor. He also has a young son about to start school.

My piece was inspired by a drawing I found which he drew on our first family trip to the Rainforest at Kuranda.
The tree had orchids of bright Fuschia, berries of bright red, Fan like leaves from some of the palms and our
Ulysses Butterflies and of course he found some of his beloved beetles! can you find them? I have hand painted the main trees and then used fondant to make the orchids and berries 3 dimensional. The rocks at the base represent the rainforest floor, a place where beetles love to hide. I do hope you enjoy this piece.
