Case Tractor

I was asked to make a tractor by some regular customers for their uncles 50th birthday. It had to be a Case 1056XL which he’s apparently driven for most of his working life. The tractor was a pleasure to make, I’ve done them before (not this model though) and find them easy enough. The plough though gave me some trouble with big and heavy parts on small thin parts at awkward angles that didn’t suit being secured with wires or cocktail sticks or anything else I could think of and it kept falling apart on me. If I’d started earlier I’d have found the problems sooner, so my own fault I suppose. I used fondant with cmc, next time I’d use modelling choc (a bit annoyed I didn’t think of it this time!). I managed in the end to get it to hold together in time for collection. After the cake had left me I ‘rediscovered’ the wing mirrors still drying on a sponge in the corner that I’d forgotten to put on, so all in all, not my finest hour!! 😂😂😂
All vanilla sponge filled with vanilla buttercream and strawberry jam and coated in milk chocolate ganache. I kept my mouth clamped tight shut about my stress at collection, the customer was delighted thank goodness, and I’m told the birthday Uncle was too :)
Thank you for looking!!

Brilliant – I wouldn’t have even noticed the wing mirrors were missing :-)

Great job. Also love the cake board, half of it tilled!!
