This is a quick cake I made yesterday for Fathers Day. I had leftover pound cake in the freezer, so I thought I’d put something together. My hubby, Steve, has a pair of trusty beat up old work boots he uses for all kinds of stuff, so I tried to replicate. I endeavoured to make the boots look well worn, saggy , the used look, including scuff marks. To me these work boots represent every “Hard Working Dad”.
I gotta say, I have great admiration for those that carve & sculpt cakes. I thought this was fiddly enough. Couldn’t imagine a large project. I was going for deep brown in the shoe, alas, it became grey. Oh well, he’ll appreciate the cake despite the colour….if he even notices the colour at all!!
