This was my entry for the France championship of cake design and it got me one of the 3 finalists.
The final will take place in February in Marseille at Expogato (http://www.expogato.com)
The theme defined was “French art”
So I decided to choose the world of Jules Verne because I love all his scientific romances and he was one of the great writer who inspired the steampunk style.

I worked on this for a few weeks completely hand painting everything.
I have tried to challenge myself with this design and have tried out lots of new techniques
Octopus is made by fondant and hand painted with bronze dust

I like so much the steampunk design and wanted to create something which illustrates the world of Jule Verne
