I made this cake to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary, so I wanted to incorporate a gold element into the design. I made the sequins by individually painting confetti sprinkles in gold, and applying them with piping gel. I hand painted the flowers in a spiralling pattern which wound around the cake, then added 3d sugar flowers to create an interesting dimension to the cake.
I really like the combination of hand painted and 3d flowers together, and would love to make a 4 tier plus version of this.
