I’m not a huge sports fan. Have I mentioned that before? I feel like I have ( http://tinyurl.com/mf8gekr ) Every time I’m asked to do a sports cake I think of my crazy sports-crazed family members (you know who you are) and shudder. Please dont mistake this for lack of being appreciative that someone whats me to make them a cake, I just get scared that I’m not going to do the cake justice and some crazy sports fan will tackle me to the ground for misrepresenting “Their Team”…yes my imagination is a crazy place…

This cake was rather challenging for me. I was asked to make “Derek Jeter” (I’m not sure of the cake’s likeness so I’m throwing that out there for anyone who’s like “hey whos that on the cake”) and all and all I was happy with the end cake…but let me just tell you…it took literally about 10 tedious tries to get there. My boyfriend (who is also not a big sports fan but very current on pop culture) kept telling me what to change, even when I didnt ask. A few of the fondant heads were thrown across the room, some were saved so I could sit there and laugh at them, and one even bore a striking resemblance to the current president of the United States. I just couldn’t do it…finally I stopped trying to make it super life-like and decided to make him look more like a caricature…I then decided I should just do that from now on because I fail at the super like like human faces haha.
