Here’s what happened… Polly was asked to make a two tiered “Gentleman’s Tuxedo” cake complete with bow tie, rosé corsage and bowler hats for two friends who were celebrating their birthdays together. The original cake design was based on a cake in a pic that the client showed her but Polly was adamant to put her own spin into the design and get some fun out of it!

After researching on men’s formal attire, Polly decided on the straight edged top hats rather than the rounder bowler hats to better match the straight edges of the cake. Next, for a smart and classy look, she opted for a wing tip collar to show off the metallic green bow tie. Regular shirt buttons will never do for a formal affair and so there are gold encased onyx studs running down the front of the shirt. And to finish off the look, there is the formality of the shawl lapelled black tuxedo to highlight the single red rosé corsage.

As for the fun part, the moustache shaped “Happy Birthday” plaque adds masculine quirkiness to the design and to top it off, what is more fun and impressive than two top hats? Two balancing top hats, of course!

And yes! I am Polly who loves to tell her stories in a third party narrative! Lol!

Special thanks to my friend Violet of The Violet Cake Shop for her suggestion to add the wing tip collar to the design. My client loved it!

Thank you for looking and reading my story! :) <3
