My beautiful niece celebrated her 21st birthday today, and so I thought I’d do something I’ve never attempted before (aren’t family cakes great for trying out new things ? :D )
This was a double-stacked 6" and stood almost 8" tall … Two firsts on this – 1) hand-painted watercolour effect and 2) wafer paper flowers coloured with petal dust (thanks to Starry Delights for her fab tutorial !!)
It was 6 scrummy layers of caramel cake, filled with alternate layers of toffee sauce and Caramac ganache (with a touch of Amaretto cream in the mix), and undercoated with the same Caramac (Oh my, this is one to add to my menu now, we scoffed the ‘spares’ last night !! :D)
Anyway, I think I’ll be brave enough to do another now, and it was actually quite nice getting back to the paintbrushes ! (I used to do a lot of watercolour painting years ago)
Hope you like it, and any tips are more than welcome !!

Oh so very, very beautiful! Immediate fave!!! :-D And Caramac ganache?? Sounds like total heaven but you must have had to buy so many of those little bars to make all that Ganache…. :-) x

Aww thank you so much Julia !! And yep, it doesn’t go very far, but gosh it was worth the bin full of wrappers lol !! (I mixed 2:1 with white choc) – I don’t know why they don’t make a BIG bar of the stuff ! xx
