This cake was made for a little girl, Emma. She turned one today. Her party theme was lemonade/lemons :) I found a strawberry lemonade recipe online. I tripled it for the most part. The only thing I did not have to triple was the buttermilk. I discovered it takes about 8 fresh squeezed lemons to make 1 cup of fresh lemon juice. Grating the lemon peel was a little time consuming. :) I hulled and sliced several fresh strawberries. The batter was thick. I thought by placing the sliced strawberries on top they would be fine. HMMM? They sunk to the bottom. I frosted the cake with homemade cream cheese frosting and filled the center layers with fresh sliced strawberries. :)

So very pretty.
Next time Laura, coat your strawberries in a little bit if flour before you add them. Then drop in the bater while in the tins. They won’t sink…..
