Hi all :)

This is a surprise birthday cake I recently made for my tutor at the Cookery course I currently attend. I thought the Koi would be fitting as he enjoys fishing (not that you fish koi!), and is of Chinese lineage, and has Koi tattoos. I really love hand painting cakes, so it was a joy to do this one and experiment with my skills! However I wish I had covered the cake a bit tidier! I hope you like it! The cake itself is chocolate with chocolate caramel buttercream – it was nice to do a buttercream cake for a change, since I’ve been doing quite a few ganached ones lately!
