This was my competition piece for the Michigan ICES Sugar Show 2014. I based the piece off of the grave of Gisleni, found in the church of Sta. Maria del Popolo in Rome. The skeleton figure and topper are modeling chocolate, and the rest is painted fondant. I wanted to do a faux marble cake for awhile and was happy for the opportunity to do it.
