My 1st ever entry into Cake International and I chose the decorative exhibit category and my piece was the WW1 Centenary. The bottom tier was handpainted then royal iced beading was piped along each line…. OMG that took forever to do!! The next tier was covered in edible images of ww1 soldiers letters home to their loved ones and finished with hand piped royal icing detail.The medals on the top tier were hand moulded and painted and are all copies of British WW1 medals and the " your country needs you" tier was hand drawn and painted using petal dust and airbrush paints.The whole cake was then finished off with my favourite tool in the whole world…. my airbrush, to give it my favourite vintage look. I loved doing this cake but next time I will make sure that my 3 kids aren’t on school holidays aswell…… slightly stressful, but it was worth it in the end as I was awarded a Silver medal!! Very happy :))
