Topic tags/keywords: question advice ateco turntable

I have a question for those of you who have the Ateco turntable. I finally decided to invest in a good turntable. I just bought the Ateco 612. I just received it and when I put it together and gave it a spin I noticed it had a slight wobble.

Has anyone else experienced this? I am wondering if this is normal and won’t have an effect on my cakes. I am not sure if I should try to return it and get a new one or not. Any advice would be helpful. I guess I could always try it once and see if it a problem. :)

I’m not sure if I have the same one but I do have a very sturdy metal Ateco. (I’ve had it for awhile). It does not wobble. It is very smooth. Other bakers in my kitchen use the same one and their’s are sturdy and smooth too. It’s a great investment be sure that yours is up to par.

Thanks Michele… I did use it one so far I have another cake this weekend and I will see how that one comes out too, then I will probably make my decision if it is an issue or not.

I have the same one…bought it about a month ago and it does NOT wobble. It glides very smoothly, so I think yours may have a defect. But I really love that stand :)

I have that same turntable, and it also had a wobble. Drove me crazy! So I bought the Wilton’s new tilt & turn. I hate Wilton products, but LOVE this turntable. I almost never use my Ateco one anymore.

Thea jo please don’t say that. I bought this cause I hate my Wilton one. I did not buy the tilt and turn one though. I have this one and hate it (http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=3E30CE50-475A-BAC0-54F16C7B7619ACF4&killnav=1)

I exchanged my Ateco one and the new one is also a little bit unbalanced. I guess that is just the say they are :(

I hope I didn’t offend you! That Wilton table you posted isn’t the one I have, that one looks like garbage… this is the one I have and love… http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=B6C5F52F-1E0B-C910-EA89E3D8AAAA40A9&fid=B6C5F5AC-1E0B-C910-EA55CA1034189552.

But I know I’m one of the rare few that hates my Ateco turn table. Just couldn’t stand the wobbling. But everyone is different :)

You didn’t offend me… i am just upset that i spent all this money and the turntable is not even level!

Yes you are correct the Wilton one i have is garbage….LOL
I debated between the one you got and the one I got. I guess i choose wrong… story of my life.

Thanks for all your input though.. glad to know i am not the only one that has noticed the wobble

Prima – there is not need to spend loads on a turntable – Lazy susans are EXCELLENT as turntables, I actually use a TV stand turntable, I think it was about £5 and because it’s designed for HEAVY TV’s it supports my cake excellently. When frosting a cake I sit a cake board the same size as the turntable on top and then sit my cake on it’s own size cake board on top of that (if that makes sense). It’s level, it turns easy, it spins when I need it to – it’s great!
