I don’t want to sound negative, but going from basic cakes to a tiered wedding cake is a huge leap. I suggest that, like the above response, you do as much research as possible; online tutorials, books etc. there is a lot to take into consideration when making a wedding cake.

I guess I have to start somewhere, I have made one tier cake before for my dad’s birthday. Fortunately my niece knows I’ve never done a wedding cake before (she made her first one for her friend a year ago) but I don’t want to let her down. I will definitely look for advice on the Internet. Thank you both of you very much.
Hi just wanted to thank everyone for your advice. Me and my very first cake survived and had a brilliant day. Everyone thought the cake tasted fantastic. I definitely need more practice with icing though. I did struggle with that massively. But once again thanks for your help 😊

Ah thank you SugarMagicCakes. Wasn’t very happy with the lumpy icing in places buy I can only learn for future. Really enjoyed it though and looking forward to making another.
Its not easy to cover such large cakes perfectly…….practice, practice, practice! :-)
