I’ve never tried it for covering a cake, just for making models. It is strong enough and rolls thinly, but I believe it woud set up a little to hard for covering a cake. How about Saracino’s Pasta Top, which I believe is like fondant.

The pasta top is a very good fondant to use in hot and Humid temparures , and is very elastic and tear resistant. It’s vegan friendly and gluten free!

I had another thought, rdevon. You could enhance the color of your fondant by dry brushing with petal dust in a color you love. Steaming will help it to set up nicely. Airbrushing is another option. I’ve even used the spray colors to shade fondant and it works well and saves having to add so much food coloring to achieve a dark color.

You don’t say where you’re from, so it’s hard to make a recommendation. I’m fortunate I have a store close to me that sells Satin Ice. Although Satin Ice is not my fav, kind of stretchy, I like the bright red colour. I add tylose to strengthen.
