Easy Tiara and Heart shaped frames.

I had an order this week for a princess cake. I was very tired and didn’t want to do the usually gumpaste tiara that is so fragile so I tried something different. I started looking at my Wilton molds. I had purchased a new one recently.

I rolled out some yellow fondant which had been mixed with tylose. I cut out a triangular shape to use as a base. I molded most of the shapes in the mold, then attached them with a brush and a little bit of water. I then took some of my pastry tips and put holes in the tiara. I used some large and small round tips and I even used a rose tip. It was fun working on this. I put some parchment around a bottle which was 4" in diameter, then rubbed some shortening over the parchment. I rested the tiara over the bottle until it dried. When it was dry enough to stand on it’s own, I let it stand and dry some more. After it was dry, I sprayed it with gold edible spray. I really like the way this turned out.

To make the heart shaped frames, I used my heart shaped cutters and cut out two hearts, one larger then the other. (My photos were simply printed off a computer, and covered on both sides with packaging tape. I told the customer not to eat the frames or the photos) I laid the heart shaped photo on top of the heart shape fondant/tylose mix and then I rolled a small snake shape and laid it on the edge of the heart, sandwiching the photo between two pieces of fondant/tylose mix. I then used some of the same shapes from the same mold I used above and made decorative shapes to decorate the heart shapes. After it was try, I sprayed some of the gold spray food coloring into a dish and hand painted the frame with it.

I like the way my cake turned out!

I hope you find this helpful. I wish I would have taken more photos of the process. If you have any questions, please feel free to pm me.
