I used to work full time with exceptional children. Children with Autism have a special place in my heart.
Years ago, I found a quote on a classroom wall, "Find a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life". I love both of my jobs.
I apprenticed as a baker 25 years ago. My whole life, I have been been called, "creative, artistic and crafty". I have been able to merge both of my crafts which puts me in my happy place. I have realized how important it is to celebrate the high points in life. I get to see people at their best, Birthdays, Weddings, Baby Showers, Graduations, It's awesome!
I get lost in cake. I could spend hours working on one cake and never realize how much time I passed until my husband calls and says, "When will you be home?"
It's always an hour to an hour and a half later then I tell him, Lol!
Now that my son is married, and my daughter off to college, I am really enjoying this season of my life. My husband also bakes and we hope to open a bakery soon.
In February of 2018, my husband retired and I left my job at school. We purchased a local deli so I could bake cakes. We both cook together and I bake my cakes and sell baked goods. I know it sounds crazy, but we bought a deli so I could bake cakes! While the deli does take some of my attention, I'm working way less hours, spend the days with my husband and I am home in the evenings. We are living the dream!
