A Day of the Dead cake for a Mexican themed party.
I really enjoyed adding all the fine detail on this cake, and it’s my very first sharp-edged cake! So exciting! I was very apprehensive about taking the first step into the world of sharp-edged cakes, but I’m so glad I did! It’s definitely not perfect, but I’m hooked!

Saw this on FB earlier and loved it!
Extremely sharp edges… Love them… Any particular method used? Thanks!

Thank you! I use the upside down method. Not sure if you’ve seen it… you cover the cake normally with fondant then carefully turn it over onto greaseproof paper. Then you use a cake smoother to guide/push the fondant flush against the surface.
Then you turn it back and it’s such a good feeling to see that it’s worked! :)

Thanks Sam, well no, I never saw this method yet; I’ve seen the upside-down method with buttercream or ganache and them you add the fondant, this sounds easier, I am going to try it, thanks!
