This is a display cake that I’m taking to the ICES convention in Kentucky tomorrow. I used the blossom scrunching technique again to make the fur on the bear. The same technique is used for the flowers and the bottom tier as well to create the look of a boxwood hedge. He’s traveling in my suitcase, I hope he makes it in one piece!

What a STUNNING cake! I haven’t seen a teddy bear covered this way before. LOVE HIM! I absolutely love this textured method and would like to try doing it someday. Is there a tutorial where I can get some tips? Good Luck with your travel to the ICES convention!!

Thank you, Toni. I haven’t seen any one else do this to make fur. I had used this technique on a larger scale to make ruffles on a tier. I just loved the way it looked so I tried to think of other ways to use it. It’s very simple. You just cut out a blossom / flower with 5 or 6 petals and fold and scrunch it to create the little ruffled flower shape, then attach to cake. Maybe I’ll put together a tutorial when I get back from ICES.
