I made this cake a couple of weeks ago for a man who was turning 90! Two of his grandaughters came in months ago to organise it for him as a special surprise. They are a Pacific Island family so wanted the cake to include hibiscus and Tapa print. Tapa cloth is a traditional cloth made across all the Pacific Islands that was originally used as clothing, but is now often worn to mark special ocassions such as weddings, or is given as a gift and is prized for its decorative value. It was a pleasure to make this cake for these lovely girls, and they told me afterwards that the birthday boy loved it! :)
Gorgeous Kerry I love how you did the tapa print?
