This was my first stacked books cake. I was horrified to do such a large cake, but somehow managed to pull it off. The bottom cake is an 11×15, middle is 9×13 cut in half, torted, filled and stacked, and top is 9×13 cut in half, filled and stacked. All vanilla with buttercream frosting and filling. The covers are fondant and the pages are buttercream. This was a 70th birthday cake for close family friend, Billy. The bottom book is about his life, the middle about his family, the top is the most important book in his life, and the items around the cake are important milestones in his life.
I primarily used Peggy’s tutorial found at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dillicious-Cakes/156811577699441?ref=hl#!/notes/peggy-does-cake/tutorial-how-to-make-a-stack-of-books-cake/268899263147547
and http://domesticsugar.blogspot.com/2012/06/stacked-book-cake-tutorial.html?m=1
The only thing I did different was to not put fondant around the edges. The pages are buttercream. Thanks for looking!
Well Done!!! xxx

Thank you! Yes, his family has been very close to ours for a long time. He loved it!
Awesome job! Thank you for your explanations as well. I have a cake very similar to this at the end of the month and am more than a little nervous. Seeing yours and how you did it makes me feel better!
