This was a joint birthday cake for my son and daughter in law we had today. Bottom tier is a dummy. Top is a double barrel spice cake with cream cheese flavoured smbc. There’s been so much going on in my children’s lives, wasn’t sure till the last minute we were actually getting together to celebrate. So didn’t start working on the cake till the day before. That is super rushed for me. This definitely not my best effort. I had planned to make silver cake lace, forca dramatic look on the black fondant. Decided to try my Flexique to make the lace. Supposed to be easy and quick to make. Followed all the instructions to the letter. Oh my what a unmitigated disaster!!!!!!!!! Gooey, sticky mess. Had no time to fuss,  so I went with a wintertime theme using my snowflake cutters. Made 2 quick coffee filter flowers to pretty the cake up.  On the back I added a lacrosse player I drew on a fondant plaque. Son played for years. Unfortunately when I enlarged the sketch, it turned grey. Oh well, my son like it.
