This is my piece for the international collaboration Everyone’s story matters. I choose ‘Dirty Bertie’ by David Roberts because it was a favourite in our house when my kids were little. My son didn’t have time to sit and read so something that was a bit gross or silly was perfect to capture his attention. Reading should be encouraged even if that spark doesn’t come from magical stories and heroic antics but instead it comes from bogeys!
To celebrate International Literacy Day, a group of cake artists, from around the world, decided to honour all of the stories that matter to us, and to our children. William Joyce says it best in one of his books “Everyone’s story matters,” and we completely agree.
This year we are raising money for ALS Research, a disease that is 100% fatal. Over 5000 people are diagnosed with ALS every year, and life expectancy is 2-5 years. Help us share this story by donating what you can to allow this invaluable research and assistance to continue. Everyone’s story matters.
