“Ti perdonerò per questa volta, ma ricordati: se del perdono non sarai degno, per tutta la vita sarai di legno”

We all fell in love with “Pinocchio”, the hugely famous movie …but what we know a little less is the original fairytale by Collodi from which Disney took his inspiration. The same week I had to choose my book for this Collaboration I was reading Collodi’s masterpiece to my little one and enjoying it just as much as he was. The story is a bit darker and macabre than the one we’re used to, but what charmed me the most was the relationship between Pinocchio and the Blue Fairy. She is not claimed to be his mother, but she definately acts like one.
I tryed to portrait the feelings she has for Pinocchio: the disappointment, the endless love…she’s biting her lips not to tell the sadness for her naughty son but still…she comforts him. “Blue” it’s not the colour of her dress. It’s her condition.
“I’ll forgive you this once. But remember: a boy who won’t be good might just as well be made of wood.”
