This is my contribution for the Animal Rights Collaboration hosted by Isabel Tamargo.
My piece represents a mammal named Marta-Zibelina, also known as Sable, whose skin is used to make the most expensive fur coats of all.
The piece portrays the Zibelina in its natural habitat (Siberia). The jumping position idea symbolizes the intend to boost mentalities and behavior changing.
It is a critical piece that aims to draw attention to the use of animal skins motivated by fashion, vanity and the quest for status.
This piece was inspired by the creative publicity promoted by the German animal rights organization BMT, to raise awareness of the population against the consumption of animal skins. This advertisement image shows a fox with a human scarf around the neck.
I chose to paint my animal in a dark brown with reflections, because the darker the color of the fur the more valuable it is!
