This is my contribution to the Sugar Dolls Around the World Collaboration organized by Linasari of Sweetlin and featured in Party Cakes magazine (Cake Craft Guides). Thanks so much for inviting me to such a fun theme.
I chose Egypt as the country for my doll because as a child, I was always fascinated with ancient Egyptians and the stories of the pharaohs and gods. I chose to make my doll an ancient Egyptian warrior princess that I named Zahra. She is beautiful but also strong and intelligent and is someone who one day will lead an entire nation. I wanted to depict her with an ornate headdress and armour to symbolize her power and strength of character, but keep her feminine with the lovely flowing gown.
I am not a modelling person so I chose to make her ‘cute’ instead of realistic, and concentrated on details in her outfit to bring her to life. I was very humbled to be amongst some of the best modellers around. Check out their work over on our FB page – www.facebook.com/SugarDollsAroundtheWorld
