Fifi's Cakes

1923 Belsize-Bradshaw

Was thrilled to be asked to make this pre-war car cake. It did prove challenging for a number of reasons, however, the reaction from the birthday boy and the client put all the stress behind me. He could not bring himself to cut it!

I was given a few pictures from a magazine of the actual car in question (see gallery) which were a great help and after hours of research to find the tiniest snippet of information on the measurements and interior, the gear lever etc I was lucky enough to find a photo of a chassis which saved the day. I believe there were only half a dozen of these cars made. Getting the colour right was awkward and the blue was not kind to the fondant, so there were some bad words coming out of the studio but it was close enough in the end. I did discover too late that there is a strip down the centre of the bonnet… hey ho!

All good fun and a couple more vehicle cakes on the go… happy days!

Loving this brilliant weather.

Here a few more pics…

Love to you all and thank you for looking.
