BLUE OMBRÉ with V-Petal Ruffles
I am so honoured to be included in Cake Masters’ May Colour Boom issue, alongside cake friends Veronique, Shags, Dina, Emily, Jeanne and Marlene for the Ombré Cakes Collection.
I was assigned BLUE and knew right away I wanted to reuse the hex molded tier from another design I made a few months ago.
It kept nagging at me ’cause I always thought how it would look better in a design with fuller ruffles on the bottom tier. Luckily, this project was the PERFECT opportunity to redeem myself and it also allowed me to use these V-Petal ruffles that I discovered when playing around one day!
I thought the ruffles were too simple for a tutorial but I had many questions about them so I have uploaded a mini-tutorial for them on my blog – www.bit.ly/TVCSblogVPetalRuffles. The mold for the hex tier is from Way Beyond Cakes by Mayen.
The cosmos are done using my own method but are highly inspired by studying those by Petalsweet Cakes.
There is a mini-tutorial in the magazine for making my gumpaste dogwood flowers, without special cutters.
Thanks so much to Laura and Rosie for the opportunity =D
Hope you like it and TFL! =D
