This cake was made for a collaboration celebrating the birthday of Dr Seuss and expressing the love of childrens books in general. My cake is based on a series of books called Brambly Hedge and in particular the Summer Story where two field mice, Dusty Dogwood and Poppy Eyebright, get married! Its such a sweet story. My kids loved these stories as children and I loved the beautiful illustrations of woodland, brambles and hedgerows. I hope you enjoy my creation and for those who have little children pick yourself up a copy of these books they are just lovely <3

I attempted to handpaint the Brambly Hedge logo on my top extended tier and made a few blackberries to scatter around the edge. More berries on the bottom tier – or at least the idea of a hedgerow filled with berries!!

I added a little door to the bottom tier as all the little animals make their homes in the hedgerows and trees. The book illustrations of the inside of these little cottages is so detailed and brilliant.
