Some cakes are just so much fun to make! You are transported back into your childhood, before the dreadful greys and muted tones become your favorite go-to colors. When everything was in high definition color! Your clothes, your art, your school stuff.. everything was bright and fun.

This cake was exactly that and so much more. Rainbow swirl cake, all three tiers. With rainbow tree dripping of rainbow colored leaves which transform into rainbow colored butterflies!

(That by the way is my husband, adjusting the cake for the photography. What would we bakers do without our super hubbies??)

The rainbow heart is inspired from melted crayon art. One which I had made using crayons before, and was dying to try on a cake. Loved the effect!

The top tier was decorated according to my client’s idea. She had seen a similar picture on the web, of a girl flying with balloons in her hands. I translated that onto the cake.

(and that is me of course ;) )

The venue was so beautiful! Full of colored balloons, and pom poms, and tree decor! Rainbow colored photo booths, and so much fun! I even loved the birthday baby’s rainbow ruffle dress.
I wish I could go back to my childhood and have the same kind of birthday for myself
