This was made for my youngest daughter’s dance teacher’s wedding. She and her husband LOVE owls, especially the Barn Owl, so requested this cake. I was rather daunted by it – never done anything quite like this before – but was very pleased with how it turned out! The owl’s body core is rkt, then the shape and feathers were built up gradually with modelling chocolate. The tail feathers are made from rice paper. I airbrushed most of the colour, but painted the spots on with a brush. the log is the actual cake!
