This is my contribution to the #Be RED – UNSA 2015 charity collaboration. A collaborations to raise funds and awareness in time with National Aids day.

Through my piece I really wanted to draw attention to the fact that Aids and HIV worldwide and does not discriminate according to race, gender or sexual orientation ‘Every 47 minutes a woman tests positive for HIV in the USA’ and every minute a young woman becomes newly infected with HIV.
I believe that some of the biggest obstacles in the fight against HIV are ignorance and silence and have depicted this through my Keith Haring style figures. I specifically wanted some Keith Haring inspired element in my piece as when I was first asked to be a part of this amazing collaboration his work and life immediately came to my mind.
The candle element of my piece has a double meaning; on one hand it is burning down and will reach Zero and the other other significance is in remembrance of those who have fallen victim to this disease.
It has been a privilege to be a part of this collaboration, and I hope that it achieves an increased awareness of the Virus and disease!
