First of all I would like to thank Royal Bakery for their tutorial on this cake! It helped us enormously when creating this Dinosaur cake for a very sick little lad’s birthday. Although the tutorial had showed the Dino head made from polystyrene, we decided to make it from sugar paste. In fact my son takes credit for creating this cake. He’s an animator by trade but loves to dabble in cake topper creations for me. He sculptured the head first using sugar shapers and then rolled out some sugar paste over the head and used an onlay mat to get the scales on the skin. Then he used vodka and food colouring to hand paint it. Each tooth was carefully rolled and placed in the Dino’s mouth. All in all, the decorating of this cake took around two days to do.
