Satin and Lace

A 12"chocolate cake, 10" vanilla cake 8" strawberry cake all filled and iced with vanilla buttercream with a satin ribbon and fondant lace and a fresh flower cake topper. I used the Wilton Lace Fondant and Gumpaste Mold and Pearl Luster Dust. It took almost 2 hours to mold the lace. I wish I would have remembered a tip I learned in a Craftsy class from Mike at Mike’s Amazing Cakes: He dusted the molds with the pearl dust while molding fondant pieces, instead of cornstarch. I remember that tip while making the last few sets of pieces. The Pearl Luster Dust makes a real good release, you don’t have to dust or paint them afterwards saving time, and you use much less pearl dust.

Psalm 127:1 Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
