I followed one of Paul Bradford’s tutorials to make this pup, which is great by the way.
He was for part of a fundraiser to help fund an autism assistance dog, which is why I chose this cake, and he was raffled at a Family Fun Day last weekend. I was busy face painting, so I left him with the lady on the cake stall and he sat in the middle of lots of homemade cupcakes made by lots of volunteers…including myself and my two children :)
The cupcakes cost a donation and raffle tickets for the dog cake were £1 a strip. But at the beginning of the day there just didn’t seem much interest in him and I did feel a little disappointed as I really wanted to help with the fundraising.
It was only when a little girl decided to pull his tongue off (!) that people realised it was a cake….they thought it was an ornament to attract people to the stall or one of those old fashioned collection boxes that were shaped like service dogs!
So lesson learned….always have a sign to say ‘I am a cake’
