This was a very personal cake for Peter. He is a keen steam train enthusiast, his favourite model being the Merchant Navy Canadian Pacific 35005. He is also mad about cricket and has run the London marathon several times. So the bottom (fruit) tier depicts his favourite steam train in sugarpaste cut-outs, racing through an airbrushed and hand painted landscape. The middle (chocolate) tier showed 5 cut-outs of a cricket team and score board, and the top (vanilla) tier was dedicated to marathon running with a chocolate and sugarpaste sculpted model of Peter in the running kit he was wearing when he crossed the finish line of the 1997 London marathon.
