Tinkerbell Tinkerbell

It’s always lovely to make your good friend’s children’s 18th birthday cakes, even if it does make you feel old.

This birthday girl was nicknamed Tink by her mum from very young and is a complete surprise. Nicole was initially involved in the designing of her cake and we looked at many very different designs and colours, but nothing really seemed to capture her, so her mum made the executive decision to have a Tinkerbell cake made for her.

I wanted it to be more grown up in style and so tried to make Tinkerbell a little more sassy. I know she doesn’t have the iconic pixie face, but I wanted to have my own take on her. Originally the cake was going to be all pink, but as these things tend to happen I got inspiration from somewhere at the last minute and decided to pick up a little more on the green and use that colour in the middle of the cake. The green ribbon on the cake board helps tie it all together.

The small tier with the bow is cake boards stuck together and decorated to give the cake a little more height. The top tier is also a false tier. I wanted Nicole to have something to keep from her 18th.

I used the Faye Cahill tutorial on craftsy to make the peonie roses.

Hope you all like this one. Sam
