A good friend loves good whisky so we made her a surprise for her birthday. Covered in white fondant, all color was added with edible paint. Done in just three hours, it was a record! Our 3D cakes usually take much longer. So much fun to paint!

Julie Cains Cakes
Just searched whisky bottles for inspiration as I need to do a stand up bottle in 3 weeks time. Funnily enough, the same brand. Wow…amazing cake. I don’t normally copy other people’s work but would you be offended if, on this occassion, I use your cake as reference? I can’t imagine mine being anywhere near as good as yours but I will try my best. Would you mind sharing how you tackled covering this shape in fondant? Straight over the top or panelled? Any tips greatfully received xx

Hi Suzy,
Thanks! Go ahead! I wrapped the cake using massa Ticino. Fondant mixed with mod choc would work as well. Much easier to smooth the join that way. I had help holding the fondant up though. On your own it’s much harder. Good luck!
