My submission for the American Cake Decorating magazine mrt/apr 2015.
A few years ago I discovered that math can be more interesting than I initially thought. I absolutely love geometric patterns and designs and the optical illusions you create with them. It looks so intricate, yet so clean. I also really admire Escher (Escher was a famous Dutch artist, known for his complicated drawings) and his work.
The pattern on the lower tier gives an irregular impression, as if the lines aren’t horizontal. However these are truly horizontal! Funny, right?
The top layer is decorated with square pieces of fondant, however by adding the white – and black dots it looks like a hemisphere is pushed onto the surface.
Thank you American Cake Decorating for featuring my cake !
xx Riany
