I’m not going to write this description—instead I’m going to just copy what my client wrote in a Facebook post because it’s so awesome (& I was so touched—never been called a ‘cake whisperer’ before! LOL!!!):

“I wanted a special cake to commemorate Bailey’s 25th Master Agility Championship. AKC’s requirements for earning a Championship are based on a combination of speed and consistency. The first AKC agility trial was in Houston, TX in 1994. Over the last 20 years thousands and thousands of dogs across the country have been competing at the highest level with the goal of earning the Master Agility Champion title. Bailey is only the 7th dog to satisfy the requirements an unbelievable 25 times. The other 6 are all small dogs – a Papillion, Shelties, Minature Poodles,

What makes this accomplishment amazing is that Bailey is a 62lb Golden Retriever who does not come from a strictly performance based breeding program. Her weight is a disadvantage in a sport where speed is valued. 30lb Border Collies dominate the sport. But what she lacks in pure speed she makes up for with her consistency. She was never intended to be a competition agility dog. In 2004, when I was looking for a new Golden, my primary requirement was a history of good health and longevity in the pedigree. It is only by chance that we stumbled into the sport of agility, as a way to build our working relationship when Bailey was young. Agility was always a fun activity that Bailey clearly enjoyed. When we entered our first trial, I was hooked and that was the beginning of an amazing journey that is still in progress. Bailey will turn 10 years old in October, so her agility career is winding down. I would love for her to be able to compete for another year or two, but when its time for Bailey to retire I’ll be able to look back on her career and be thankful for the amazing ride we had together.

Bailey is truly a once in a lifetime dog and what she has accomplished is very special.

My agility adventure with Bailey has been a once in a lifetime journey and I’m enjoying every minute of it. After she earned her MACH 25 at the last trial she was entered in (three weeks ago) I decided I wanted to come up with a “fun” cake to mark this milestone. I discovered a world famous ‘cake whisperer’ lived just a few miles from my house. Christy Duffell Seguin creates works of art that happen to be edible (check out the hundreds of amazing cakes she has created on her Facebook page Cakes ROCK ). We discussed my idea of incorporating a MACH ribbon into a cake design, add a name & title, a few hearts & pawprints and maybe a picture … that should do it. Christy’s finished product was amazing. The pictures show you what’s on the outside … here’s what’s on the inside … 10” square bottom tier chocolate cake with chocolate silk buttercream filling & dark chocolate ganache, 6” square top tier key lime cake with white chocolate buttercream filling & white chocolate ganache. And Yes, the ribbon on the cake is edible! The cake tasted as good as it looked, and the gallon of ice cold milk was the perfect accompanying beverage at today’s trial.

I’m glad everyone enjoyed the cake, it was fun way to mark this milestone … and the journey continues!
