This cake was made for an old friend of mine’s son for his 8th birthday. He has just spent the summer learning to surf and so, of course, wanted a surf cake for his birthday. Everything on the cake is edible. The top ended up being so heavy with the amount of fondant needed to create the waves that I had to put it on a 6" board so I could support it all.

I would like to say a very special thank you to Carmen who kindly gave me permission to use her VW van design to the front of the cake. Mine is not a patch on hers though.
