This cake was for a 40th birthday, & the wife & kids wanted everything possible on the cake that represented the things he loves—-which are MANY! He is truly well-rounded & varied in his interests! So my challenge was to play ‘Cake Jenga’ and get everything on there that I could while still keeping a coherent design. While I was working on the cake my husband joked that this cake must be for the ‘Most Interesting man in the World’, & thus the name!
The tux represents his love of fine fashion, along with the Movado watch, & the tie & pocket square HAD to be red! On the bottom tier, we have his love of golf, with India’s flag in the hole to represent his home country. Then we have his love of the Houston Texans, complete with his own jersey showing his name & 40 for his birthday. And he is also a DJ! So I made an isomalt DJ booth with turntable, disco ball & dance floor. The margarita glass on top is a real glass, filled with gelatin ‘strawberry margarita’ & it’s sitting on his beloved beach. Whew!
The top tier is Key Lime Margarita cake with strawberry margarita filling & white chocolate ganache. The bottom tier is Vanillla Almond cake with white chocolate buttercream filling & white chocolate ganache. All decor is edible, except for the flag pole & margarita glass.
