When the Bride came to me ref this cake I had to hide my panic look from her as we (I mean my helper Caroline and I) have never attempted Orchids before and the thought of doing them scared us both.
After doing some research and getting some good pictures of the real ones we did a ‘dummy’ run first to make sure we could get them looking exactly right as in size and look. Our main problem was that my bride didn’t want them trailing (as they do) so I wanted to make sure that they looked like how they are suppose to look like and not just ‘plonked’ on the cake!
Also for a first time was Passion fruit sponge flavour – I really don’t like this as a fruit BUT put it in a sponge, with homemade curd and buttercream…………. it’s blooming lovely!
