This wedding cake comprises of 96 hand-shaped and hand-painted pastillage ‘flutes’, 96 unwired carnations plus a ‘petalled’ topper, with over 2,500 royal iced beads across the piece. I also designed and built the cake stand to compliment the cake design and colouration. Detail views of the topper and fluting can be seen in the additional photos.

Thank you ladies x
I’ve entered it into the quarterly awards (needed to post it in order to be able to submit as entry). It was very hard to photograph (winter time, so poor lighting) – the cakes were actually a beautiful shade of Wedgewood blue (mirrored in the hearts on the board). It kept me busy for quite a while! :-D

Thanks Mandy x Yes, it took an awful lot of patience, particularly hand-painting the flutes due to the absorbency of the pastillage – one slip and it’s a reject! Not to mention I lost two whole trays due to two separate accidents! :-O
