My sister is a very talented photographer, when I started designing her birthday cake, I knew I wanted to incorporate photography somehow but not in the usual way. I love her photographs but I’m most drawn to grayscale and black and white. To attempt this in buttercream was a little scary – it could look like a cow…(not good) or camouflage… (also not good) or it could look very modern and elegant. White, black and gray buttercream layered and smoothed to create the grayscale effect, finished with a deep red painted gumpaste flower and of course some sparkle with edible black sequins on the board. Oooh-la-la! :)
I’ve been saved, I’ve been changed, I have been set free! www.facebook.com/sbcakedesign
